An incredibly rare and original, museum grade 1940’s Nudie Rodeo Shirt, a piece of Western Wear history!
Nudie Cohn was the first tailor to bring extravagant embroidery, leather applique, and rhinestones to traditional Western wear.
In the 1940’s and 1950's, his custom gabardine and wool shirts and suits were worn by country music stars and Western movie actors like Tex Williams, Ernest Tubb, and later Elvis Presley.
Early pieces often featured distinctive custom branding, such as the famous naked cowgirl or cowboy labels.
Unlike standard denim workwear, original Nudie western shirts used fine wool gabardine, rayon, or silk. They featured contrasting piping, pearl or glass snap buttons, pointed front and back yokes, and elaborate chainstitch embroidery (often with floral, star, or Western motifs).
